2021 What will it hold for us?
Wow! I'm sure you are like me and 2020 brought lots of changes for our family. In all honesty not all the changes were bad, some were really good.
Let's just take a minute to recap 2020 the good, the not so good, and release the things that we no longer need in our life! Here are a just a few things that happened last year:
Not so great : my last living grandparent went onto Heaven (Alzheimer), explaining to the girls why they couldn't go back to school/ with friends, our family dog went to Heaven ( DR & I had Remington from 8 weeks old & got him about 2 months into our relationship)- this has been super hard on all of us, Rem was almost 12years old.
The Great: we went full time into homeschooling both the girls, we got to enjoy Church as a family at home, I have learned to cook more meals, my business is still busy, and DR was sought out to come back into ministry full time!
Yeah for 2020 & blessing that we were able to witness!
I know I left you hanging with a ministry job....
The BIG announcement!!!!!

*
Starting Feb 1st DR will be the area representative for FCA ( Fellowship of Christian Athletes) for the Kerr & Gillespie County!!! The schools that he will be serving are: Harper MS &HS, Fredericksburg MS & HS, St. Mary's Catholic School, Heritage School, Ambleside, Tivy HS, Hal Peterson, Ingram MS &HS, and Schreiner University. I know you are shouting with excitement with us!
For those of you who don't know what FCA is: It's a ministry to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.
The vision is: To see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches & athletes.
A little background for you to understand why we are passionate about FCA: DR was an amazing football player at Tivy HS, and not only was he a great athlete, but He showed Jesus on & off the field. When we first moved back to Kerrville, I remember the band director at the time, Marty told me he remembered DR from high school, not because of his abilities on the field, but the encouragement he was to the band members. Back in high school DR got the vision to support those who don't always get the recognition. This vision carried onto college where DR played football for Texas A&M Kingsville (A&I). He became the SAAC (student athlete advisory committee) president at his University because of his leadership skills & his heart to serve the university & community around him. Just to add in there, this is also how he met his beautiful wife, also President of SAAC at her University- Me 😉
Now you know what DR's vision is and where he comes from, here is where we are calling on YOU as Faith Partners.
DR will be ministering to the coaches, athletes, students, parents of these athletes by supplying Bibles, supplying meals for the kids, help coaches have lessons to share with the students, and helping these kids get plugged into local churches to help further their spiritual walk.
Here are the Steps YOU can take as a Faith Partner with DR:
Time & Talent
Character Coach Adopt-A-Huddle Donate Food Prayer Team Booster Club Provide FCA Bibles
Treasure
$100/month- supports my monthly ministry time to coaches and athletes$75/month-provides ministry curriculum
$50/month- 50 Bibles into student athletes' hands

Thank you so much to all of you have prayed for DR and his calling into ministry and supporting him as he continues to let God shine through him. We are grateful for you and your partnership. 2021 you are looking like a year to Pursue God's truth.

Have you ever had friends share with you their desire to go into the mission field? You know those friends that make life so much fun! Then you know exactly how we feel right now, you have a roller-coaster of mixed emotions! You are excited for them, but you are sad, then happy for them, then super sad because they are leaving.... It's not because you don't love them, it's because you Love them that much! If You haven't experience this let me share with you as I am typing I am crying 😭!
Can we just talk about what makes this hard...
Let's state the obvious reasons, we won't have bi-weekly date nights. I mean what do you do when your true friends don't live here anymore, you can't just replace them with someone else, it's not the same!
You can't just pick up the phone & call them. They are now in a different time zone across the world. And they have limited electricity!
So how do we process/grief through this transition?
I can tell you what we did last time they left..... cry & cry some more.. And guess what I am CRYING as I write this!
Grief is okay, yes it's grieving ya'll! We feel a loss of a friendship, no we aren't losing them as friends, but we are losing that in person friendship. And if we don't acknowledge that we are grieving, it can consume you with sadness & could lead to depression. So lets talk about it!
Talk about it with your friends
You may not be able to talk with your friends who are transitioning back to the mission field & it may be hard for them to understand, so grab a friend here stateside & share with them. Your friend stateside may not understand completely what you are feeling, but if they are a good friend they will understand the loss of an important relationship.
Write Cards!
This time since our kids are older, we took a day off homeschooling & just wrote letters for each month. We themed the cards by decorating for the holidays or their birthdays. Was this emotionally draining for me & the girls, yes. Was it worth it, YES!!!
The joy on our friends face as we gave them the cards, was priceless. And we even included 12 cards for them to write us back! So now the girls will be looking forward to getting random cards in the mail.
**(fyi) If your friends are in a 3rd world country, they will not have mail, so you will have to take time before they leave & predate them or send it with their big missionary containers
Pray
It's certainly not the last or least, but maybe the most important part, PRAY! You pray for their safety while traveling, you pray for peace as they venture back into the mission field, you pray for grace over their kids, and you pray for God's will to be done through them. So can you just take a second with me & Pray over our friends,
Lord,
We thank you for the this beautiful day you have given us. Thank you for the desire you have put on Moses families' heart to go & serve your in Sierra Leone. We ask for you to give them peace during this transition time, please give them traveling grace and mercy. Lord be with them as they welcome a new team member & their new baby into their home in SL. Let your spirit move through their words & actions as they serve the people around them.
All these things we ask in your name,
Amen
♥ If this tugs at your heart & you feel lead to give to the Moses family here is their link: Support
Again thank you friends for following along! I would love to hear your tips on how you support missionary families or you are a missionary family & the ways that people have helped support you!
See you in the next few days as we talk about decluttering before the holidays!
Mahalo

Wow!
I never thought of myself ever as a blogger, but here we are in 2020 and I am writing my 1st blog. It's amazing how much self reflection has already happened this year. I know for me before this year even started my word was/is TRANSFORMATION. Little did I know what this year would have in store!
I am going to share with you just 3 of my a-ha moments...
Isolated Schooling is hard. Yes I said Isolated schooling not homeschooling! We had already chosen a lifestyle of homeschooling/ Montessori learning to fit into our families dynamic. But ya'll this isolated schooling was so hard, my girls didn't understand why school stopped, why they couldn't see their friends, etc... The easiest way we could describe it was that people are afraid of germs. Was that right? Who knows, but we felt our children didn't need to have the worries of the world. So for those of you looking to homeschool, its actually a lot different than what is perceived. Thankfully this fall it has looked closer to what we had envisioned for our family & we have a great support system!
Being in a Multi-racial relationship is complicated. Yep, I said it! On paper we are mostly referred as "other". To some people we have jumped the fence or stole a good man/woman from their race. All the above is hurtful. I am not asking you to apologize for what someone else has said or thought, but I am asking you to be mindful of what you say. Can I share with you that today in this world, sometimes it's scary to go in public, b/c I can't control what you are assuming of us b/c the color of our skin. Yes I just saw what you posted on social media.... Your words/pictures/things you share speak loudly!
I know many people have asked us for insight.... We have advise, but in private setting we will share, we don't want our words being misinterpreted as much as we can control it 😉
I have done a lot of self healing! I didn't realize I had been holding to things from college. Things that have held me back in being ME ! So how did I do this, well there are so many things that I did & continually do still!
*Reading/listening to self help books! Here are some of my favorites
Energy Bus ( https://amzn.to/3kzHxs1) Mach 2 ( https://amzn.to/2HB8ld0 )
Rich Dad Poor Dad ( https://amzn.to/3jwpMsp ) Prayers of the Praying Wife ( https://amzn.to/3e4nJuD )
* Really dug deep into learning the 4 types of personalities. It's usually referred to gems or color personalities, but the one I did was so much more in depth. I found that I had floated to different personalities because of hurt that I had felt from friends/family. Once this made senseand why I leaned one way or the other, it helped me realize who I am at the core!
These tips have really helped not only in homeschooling & my girls different learning styles, but in my marriage, and in my business. This training was priceless! So Thank you Christa!
Mahalo for listening to me talk about 2020! Hope that 1 thing will bless you life! And be on the look out in the next few weeks for some of my tips on how to de-clutter before the Holidays! We do this every November!
